Mannie Williams (10) created the Ping-Pong Club because he believed that the school’s ping-pong tables should be put to use.
“I created the Ping-Pong club because there was a gaping hole in all of Oakwood High School’s life and we needed ping-pong in our lives,” Williams said.
He believed that creating a ping-pong club would bring students together while playing and competing with each other and having tournaments would bring them closer together as a community.
“I like to play ping-pong from time to time and it can be really interesting to play it with people that I don’t normally play with,” Kian Work (10) said.
Over 70 people have already joined the Ping-Pong Club so far. The club hopes to have more members join the club so they can start competing with a bigger group than before. They plan to start the club around March when the West gym is open to them during the spring.
