On Sunday, Dec. 10 the OCC had its annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony at Shafor Park. This annual tradition is enjoyed by many Oakwood families who come to enjoy some hot chocolate, music, carriage rides and meet Santa Claus.
“It’s great for bringing families together and getting them ready for the holidays. It’s also magical for children” Neave Lynch (12) a volunteer at the hot chocolate stand said.
Many families also enjoyed the festive tones of the Oakwood High School Marching Band and
acapella groups.
“I think the music is an essential part of this festival because music always brings families, and communities closer together,” Anna Eizenga (11) a saxophone player in the band said.
