Girls varsity basketball fell to Waynesville last night 70-37. Ashley Bowden (11) led the team in scoring with 14 points. The girls team fought hard but in the end could not come out with a Win.
Before the game veterans and active duty service members were honored on the court. Even though the team lost it was still a special night for the players. This game had a deeper meaning to some players including guard Caroline Roelle (10).
“The military appreciation game means a lot to me because my grandpa served 10 years in the Air Force and this game was to honor his service and all active duty military and veterans,” Roelle said. “I’m so glad we could hold this game to honor all the people who serve our great country.”
Even though the Jills lost the game, the event was a success because it honored local veterans. The Jills are looking to bounce back at Madison at 7 p.m. on Dec. 14.
