Ten years of playing pays off

Division II prospect Jonathan Duff competes in WHIO Trench Team

Perfect practice: Jonathan Duff (12) practices at Mack Hummon stadium on Thursday, October 17th.

WHIO nominated Jonathan Duff (12) as one of the best linemen in the Miami Valley.

Duff is competing in the 2019 WHIO Trench Team to determine this season’s high school MVP. The communities vote to determine the winner. As of October 24, Duff is in third place among 15 players.

As a nominee for the Trench Team, Duff’s life has been positively affected in numerous ways.

“It gave me a lot of confidence, and I received a lot of support from the community and family,” Duff said.

The winner can be on the news, and the top three players are presented in front of a panel of judges consisting of college coaches and high school coaches. The winner will receive a Player of the Year award.

In addition to being nominated, Duff has received offers from a few schools.

“Currently I hold a full scholarship offer from Graceland University, and offers from smaller schools which are Hiram College and Duquesne University,” Duff said.

Duff is motivated to keep playing due to support from friends, family and the community.

“I’m considered very small for my position and to receive awards or recognition really keeps me going,” Duff said.
