On Oct. 4, students prepared for homecoming weekend by participating in the pep rally in The Pit.

The pep rally began with the cheerleaders performing a routine with an eclectic mix of songs selected by the coaches. Shortly after the cheerleaders performed their routine, they called out the students’ numbers according to their graduation year and their “cry.”

“I love everything about pep rallies. Whether that be the music, the band, or the cheers, I love it all,” Anna Porter (10) said.

Students also competed in class challenges, including human foosball, where different students from each class held onto a string and tried to get the ball to either side of the gym. The seventh graders, freshmen and juniors teamed up to defeat the other classes.

Principal Paul Waller recognized fall sports and the scores of any recent games or events. District representation includes girls golf, boys golf and girls tennis. Grace Hartman broke the cross country school record for the 5K running it in 17:36.

Students crowned school spirit king and queen, including teacher spirit king and queen. The teacher king was math teacher Bobby Mumma and the queen was math teacher Rosanna Jivens. The freshman spirit king was Andew Tucker and the queen was Lauren Sanford. The sophomore king was Jacob Miller and the queen was Grace LaFountain. The junior king was Sam Stack and the queen was Grace Butler. The senior king was Jackson Tucker and the queen was Audrey Bergeron.

“Spirit week is fun because it gives you another chance to go crazy and have fun with your outfits and it brings out the inner kid in you,” Bergeron (12) said.

The homecoming game is tonight at 7:00 p.m. at Mack Hummon Stadium against Brookville.
