Q: Do you do any sports outside of swimming?

A: No, [I don’t do any] sports outside of swim.

Q: How long have you been doing swimming?

A: I think I started halfway through my fourth grade year. I was about 11.

Q:What drew you to swimming? What do you love about it?

A: [I started swim] because my sister did it. I love the environment, people are really nice. At swim it’s more diverse. I love the way everything feels; it’s like flying.

Q: How often do you practice?

A: I practice everyday except Monday. On Tuesday and Friday I practice before school.

Q: How long do you think you’ll be doing swimming? Will you turn it into your career?

A: I would like to turn it into a career, but there is so much uncertainty. I’d like to swim in college, but who knows.

Q: If not, what do you think you’ll do?

A: [I think I will go into] film editing and piano.

Q: What’s your best achievement in swimming?

A: [I] just got this NCSA (National Club Swimming Association) 100 metres breast [time of] one minute, six seconds, 18 milliseconds.

Q: What are your goals for swimming in the coming year?

A: The next Olympics are Tokyo so my main goal is to make states for high school and I want to get my Olympic cut.

Q: Closing statement?

A: If you are ever thinking about a sport, try swimming because it’s a good stress reliever. It’s nice to have that time to just think.
